Osaki OS-Pro Maxim Zero Gravity Massage Chair

The Osaki OS-Pro Maxim Zero Gravity Massage Chair offers an assortment of features and programs, a great variety of massage techniques and styles, and a user-friendly remote so you can control the whole thing. Today we’ll take a look at this chair, see what it has to offer, consider the specifications, tally up the pros and the cons, and conclude by taking stock and seeing if it might be right for your massage chair needs. With all of that said, let’s jump in and take a look at the Osaki OS-Pro Maxim Zero Gravity.

1.) Features and Programs

The Osaki OS-Pro Maxim has some truly wonderful features, and on the whole this chair holds up very well. Let’s start by considering the roller track system it uses to deliver that massage.

SL Track

Roller track systems are an important feature of massage chairs, and all massage chairs have one of two types: an S-track, which curves from your head and neck to about your tailbone (coccyx), and an L-track or SL-track, which is an S-track that continues down your legs to your glutes and the top of your hamstrings. The Osaki Pro Maxim has an L-track, also known as an SL-track, so you have that longer coverage. To be sure, not everyone feels they need this—for some people, an S-track is perfectly sufficient—but if you carry any significant amount of stress in your legs, you’ll probably really enjoy the SL-track. Personally, I enjoy both systems, but the Osaki Pro Maxim definitely pulls off the SL-track in style. It’s nice to have that extra coverage if and when you want it—and I often do find I want it, so I appreciate this. On that note, controlling the chair is also important: you need to be able to not only turn it on and off but also choose between the various options, which we’ll describe below.

Touch Screen Remote

With this in mind, another feature you’re likely to really appreciate is the touch screen remote. This is a tablet that comes programmed with everything you need to direct the massage chair on a touch screen. You can use the touch screen remote to see the chair’s functions, and choose between preset programs. The best part of this may be the use of images to depict what the chair does: you can see what’s available in terms of how it will work, and choose accordingly. I like my controls user-friendly and intuitive on a massage chair. I don’t want to have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do and what not to do, and how to get the result that I want. In my experience, this is a pretty user-friendly remote. It will take you a little time to look through everything and see what the options are, but soon enough you’ll get the hang of it. The images and the buttons make the whole thing very easy to use. If this is a feature that is new to you, you are likely to find it a pleasant surprise. It also powers on and off with a button discretely placed on the top right-hand side of the tablet.

Osaki Pro Maxim

Foot Rollers

And now, let’s talk about foot massage. What do you look for in a foot massage? For me, a lot of it comes down to the kneading feeling: that rhythmic pressure working away on the souls of your feet. It’s very relaxing when done right, and I find it helps me ease my cares away. I have to say, I tend to think the foot massage component of a massage chair is very important, and it’s something I’m particular about: I like it to feel like a significant attraction in its own right, not an afterthought, but rather something that matters. The Osaki Pro Maxim has definitely delivered here, with powerful, capable foot massagers that work with air bags to stimulate acupuncture points on your feet. Specifically, this chair has a dual foot roller system which has 2 rows of spinning reflexology massagers, and I have to say, they do a great job. The result is a soothing, rhythmic kneading, with air bags that inflate and contribute to the overall sensation.

Airbag Massage

And speaking of airbags, they are very important in a massage chair: they play a role in the massage, and contribute to the overall experience of feeling good. What you want with airbags, though, is better quality and more coverage, and if you can get that with fewer total airbags so much the better. This chair certainly has a very interesting and innovative airbag system. The key is better technology, which means better results with fewer airbags. With a total of 22 airbags, this is one of the most efficient chairs in the market. There’s an additional plus with having fewer airbags: fewer working parts, meaning this chair is both more energy-efficient and less prone to mechanical failure.

Space-Saving Technology

And finally, you need a place to put your chair. It’s a good thing this chair uses space-saving technology: instead of needing 3 feet behind the backrest to recline, like more conventional builds, this one needs only 6 inches.

2) Massage Techniques and Styles

Preset massage programs are another important thing to know about a massage chair, since they have a great deal to do with your overall experience and what your options are. This chair has 12, including Deep Tissue, Recovery, Sleeping, Wake Up, and General (a combination of all), among others. It even has 4 different stretching actions: Health, Beauty, Vitality, and Vigor. There are also 5 unique massage styles: Swedish, Tapping, Shiatsu, Clapping, and Rolling. It’s nice to have so many options with a massage chair, and I definitely believe the Pro Maxim provides a great deal of choice in this regard.

3) Massage Intensity and Speed

There are 5 different levels of speed, strength, and intensity. This provides a great deal of choice, and in my experience that’s important because you’re likely to have different needs at different times: on some days, you’ll want to crank it all the way up, while on other days a solid 3 will be enough.

4) Special Features

I’ll start here by noting that you can get this chair in three color options: black, brown, and ivory. There are also two deliver options: curbside, which is free, and white glove, which is an extra $250.00. Heating is very important in a massage chair, and here the Osaki Pro Maxim is well furnished. It has two heating pads in the lumbar area (lower back), and you can turn the heating on or off independently of anything else. There’s also a high-frequency vibration massage option for the backs of the thighs, built into the seat. This feels amazing, and it too can be turned on and off independently of everything else.

2 Stage Zero Gravity

2-Stage Zero Gravity

This is a 2-stage Zero Gravity position chair, which means that you have the usual Zero Gravity and an additional 2nd stage, with additional recline ability. The second stage is particularly wonderful because it puts your legs above your heart—perfect for optimizing your circulation.

Bluetooth + Chromotherapy

In case you want to listen to music and be able to take phone calls while you’re receiving massage, the chair comes with Bluetooth technology and high-quality speakers. Plus, there are blue LED lights which you can appreciate in dim lighting: they provide chromotherapy, the color blue known to be particularly relaxing.

6) Warranty & Service

The manufacturer offers a 3-year standard warranty for parts and labor, but what is covered changes as the warranty goes on. Specifically, they guarantee replacement or repair at their option, without cost, should the chair be deemed defective due to faulty parts, workmanship, or structural defects. Within the first year, all parts costs, labor, and the framework of the chair are covered—but not shipping expenses. During the second year, parts costs are covered, but not labor. Finally, the chair’s framework is covered for 3 years. That is the free warranty, but you can get an additional 1-year extended warranty for parts and labor for $149.95, and a 2-year extended warranty for parts and labor for an additional $249.95. What is not covered is, as mentioned, any shipping expenses, as well as normal wear and tear. Physical damage, whether intentional or due to accident or neglect, is also not covered.

7) Pros:

Time to see how this chair stacks up! Let’s begin by talking about the pros, and then we’ll go on to the cons. First of all, I’ll take the big-picture and say that this chair is very high-end: it has a great many features and offers a great deal of value. I’ll be fair and say that I feel the value is commensurate with the price: I’d expect a chair like this to cost about what it does or a bit more. I really like the SL-track on this one. It’s nice to have that extra coverage, and this chair has a well-designed approach to it. The vibration plate is a wonderful extra touch. The heating is very enjoyable and feels wonderful. Definitely another strength of this chair. The foot massage is also a plus. My feet thank me when I give this one a try. The touch screen remote is very user-friendly and intuitive. I like a chair that is easy to figure out how to control. The 12 different programs and 5 unique massage styles offer a great selection of options. I love a chair that has so many different experiences to offer. The 2-stage Zero Gravity position is simply to die for. I am so fond of this option, especially that second-stage Zero Gravity. I also have to say a good word for the Bluetooth and the LED chromotherapy. It is simply delightful to have the option to listen to music, and be able to enjoy some relaxing lights.

8) Cons:

There are very few things to not like about this chair, so this list will be much shorter than the one above. Let’s address the elephant in the room: no, this chair is not 3D. It’s a wonderful chair and a good solid value for the price, but it’s not 3D. With as many wonderful features as this chair has, you’d expect it to be 3D. It’s not, and it seems conspicuous only by virtue of how high-quality the chair is. Second, the warranty options, while not unreasonable, could be better. The free warranty is decent, but the diminishing coverage is a bit of a bummer. It would also be nice if the shipping expenses were covered. I can scarcely muster any other criticisms of this chair. It is a great chair at a good price.

Conclusion: Taking Stock

Let’s wrap up and take stock. Should you get this chair? If you are in the market for a first chair or a second chair and you want a good assortment of features, this chair is a great option, provided you aren’t sold on 3D. If you’re generally looking for a good deal and you don’t want to spend too much money, this chair is certainly a good option. The only reason to not get it is if you feel a strong need for a 3D chair, in which case there are other options even at similar price points. So, give the Osaki Pro Maxim a try, and see what you think.
